How I hate IVR systems!

Have you ever called into a company’s customer service area, only to find yourself in the midst of a maze of menus — the computer tells you to punch certain keys on your telephone keypad, and then it moves you on to the next level. These are called interactive voice response systems, or IVR for short. I hate these systems! They are almost impossible to get around in, as they invariably require you to navigate back and forth through all sorts of complicated menus. It takes a lot of time to wear your way through these levels of menus, which really stretches out your telephone call, which is a pain if you are in a hurry. Fortunately, smarter companies today are relying on speech recognition technology which allows you to talk to the machine on the other end — and they will understand you!
