Did you know that there is a difference between Bird, Hunting and Gun Dogs?
I understand that bird dogs flush and retrieve birds, hunting dogs chase after the prey and point and gun dogs are accustomed to being around during live fire. But aren’t they all really hunting dogs in the end? How different is the training between each of the different types of hunting dogs? Do you need to have a yard full of dogs specially trained for each type of hunt you plan to participate in? I am obviously not an expert on the different types of training that goes into the different types of hunting dogs. I can’t seem to figure out how a person is supposed to keep up with this many dogs. I really believe one dog is all you need as long as he is trained with the basic hunting skills.
