The electronic tabla is much more than another drum machine
The Tabla is a very unique Indian instrument that has been used for thousands of years for spiritual and cultural expression. Although extremely different visually, the similar sounds emitted by the Electronic tabla make it an interesting add to your electronic arsenal. It’s similar to a drum-machine, in that you program in the patterns. Interestingly enough, unlike a drum-machine, you don’t have to have a speaker, it has an on board speaker on the majority of electronic tablas now. Also, there are now affordable electronic tablas that are capable of using MIDI! With advancements like that, it’s only a matter of time before you start seeing this instrument showing up in live performances, for DJ’s, bands, etc.
